
FEAR IS ONE THE BIGGEST WEAKNESSES
Fear is such a universal experience in man, because all fears come from not having God in our heart. The original Hebrew word for “was afraid” is “waa’iyraa” from the verb “yare” (yaw-ray) which means “to fear,” or “to frighten.” There are at least eight causes of fear. Faith and fear are opposites, but they work the same way. God will do nothing without faith and the devil can’t do anything without fear. These two work the same way. Psalm 118:6 says, “The Lord is on my side I will not fear what can man do to me?” If God is on your side, if God is involved in your life and if God is helping you, why would you ever be afraid? Negative thoughts about the self are usually self-criticisms, which tend to be absolute, such as, “I am worthless” or, “I am no good.” Negative thoughts can also be indirect and inferred from negative events. For example, something bad happens in your life, and you think, “if I were a good person, this wouldn’t have happened to me.” Or, somebody treats you unfairly, and you say, “there is nothing I can do about it. I deserve to be treated like that.” …
