FEAR IS ONE THE BIGGEST WEAKNESSES
Fear is such a universal experience in man, because all fears come from not having God in our heart. The original Hebrew word for “was afraid” is “waa’iyraa” from the verb “yare” (yaw-ray) which means “to fear,” or “to frighten.” There are at least eight causes of fear. Faith and fear are opposites, but they work the same way. God will do nothing without faith and the devil can’t do anything without fear. These two work the same way. Psalm 118:6 says, “The Lord is on my side I will not fear what can man do to me?” If God is on your side, if God is involved in your life and if God is helping you, why would you ever be afraid? Negative thoughts about the self are usually self-criticisms, which tend to be absolute, such as, “I am worthless” or, “I am no good.” Negative thoughts can also be indirect and inferred from negative events. For example, something bad happens in your life, and you think, “if I were a good person, this wouldn’t have happened to me.” Or, somebody treats you unfairly, and you say, “there is nothing I can do about it. I deserve to be treated like that.” …
Some experiences leave hidden marks on a person’s emotions that often follow them through life. Many people have amazing dramatic and traumatic testimonies. It’s correct some people get over a traumatic situation quickly; others are terrified and have fear for the rest of their lives if not treated. Others are afraid and don’t know why! …
Fear is indeed considered one of the biggest weaknesses that humans possess. It is a powerful emotion that can cloud judgment, hinder progress, and prevent individuals from reaching their full potential. When fear takes hold, it can paralyze people, making them hesitant to take risks or step outside their comfort zones.
Fear often stems from the unknown or the anticipation of negative outcomes. It triggers a fight-or-flight response, causing individuals to either confront the source of fear or avoid it altogether. While fear can be a natural and protective response in certain situations, it becomes a weakness when it overwhelms rational thinking and prevents individuals from making sound decisions.
Moreover, fear can limit personal growth and development. It can prevent people from pursuing their dreams and aspirations, as the fear of failure or rejection holds them back. By succumbing to fear, individuals may miss out on valuable opportunities and experiences that could have enriched their lives.
Overcoming fear is a crucial step towards personal growth and success. It requires acknowledging and confronting the underlying causes of fear, challenging negative thoughts and beliefs, and gradually exposing oneself to the things that trigger fear in a controlled manner. By facing fears head-on, individuals can build resilience, develop confidence, and expand their horizons.
It is important to note that while fear can be a weakness, it is also a natural human emotion. It serves as a survival mechanism and can alert us to potential dangers. The key is to recognize when fear is holding us back unnecessarily and to take steps to overcome it, allowing us to move forward and achieve our goals.
